MONPS Saint Louis Chapter January Meeting

WHEN: 7:30 pm, Weds 26 January 2011

WHERE: Powder Valley Nature Center, 11715 Cragwold Road, Kirkwood, MO

Starting at the intersection of I-270 & I-44, travel east on I-44 a short distance//take the Watson Road exit lane. As soon as possible take the left turn lane when approaching Geyer Road.

Turn left(north) on Geyer Road. Travel less than 0.2 mile on Geyer Road and turn left(west) on to Cragwold Road(the first road on the left after crossing the I-44 overpass).

Travel west on Cragwold Road about 0.8 miles - to the entrance to Powder Valley Conservation Nature Center on the right.

Turn right and follow the road 0.4 mile to the Nature Center parking area.

Meeting rooms are in the large building on the west side of the parking lot. Entrance is via the southeast corner of this building. . The main lobby visitor entrance at the center of the complex is closed after 5 pm.

Rediscovering Lilium philadelphicum in northern Missouri

MONPS members find over 70 Eastern Prairie Fringed Orchids and a Wood Lily on a prairie in northern Missouri on a weekend when flooding made navigation tricky.

Includes Hexalectris spicata (Crested Coral Root Orchid) and shots of the damage and current condition of Johnson Shut-Ins after the Taum Sauk Reservoir failure of December 2005.
